Project Management staff oversee the construction of many projects throughout the City. The projects consist of either being city or privately sponsored. Privately sponsored projects, such as residential subdivisions or commercial facilities require inspection by project managers on a regular basis to confirm that new construction of public infrastructure in the City right-of-ways is compliant with the City’s ordinances, policies, Standard Details, and Technical Specifications.
City sponsored projects, called Capital Improvements, such as the construction of new or existing public facilities and the construction of new or existing public utility infrastructure command more involvement by project managers. A few examples of tasks associated with these types of projects are as follows: involvement with the engineering and design phase, acquisition of easements/rights-of-way, execution of the project bidding process, contract administration, construction supervision, materials testing scheduling and oversight, infrastructure testing, contract closures and one-year maintenance oversight.
