Friendswood City Pool is piloting a new, streamlined, swim lesson registration process for Swim Lessons this summer. No longer will you need to select the specific skill level for children ages 2 to 12 years old. Now you will simply select the session dates and time you would like to attend, and our talented team will do the rest!
*Swimmers will arrive 10 minutes early for the first day of each session to be sorted into levels based on benchmarks*
**Waitlisted swimmers will be contacted as more instructors and/or spots become available.**
All swimmers who do not meet the benchmarks for level 2 will be placed in level 1.
To advance to level 2 lessons, students will be expected to demonstrate the skills below:
To advance to level 3 lessons, students will be expected to demonstrate the skills below:
To advance to level 4 lessons, students will be expected to demonstrate the skills below:
Extended Team Training (Separate registration from the above classes)
This advanced level is designed for swim team swimmers who wish to continue to practice after the season is over or those wishing to work on perfecting strokes. This class not advised for swimmers under 5 years of age due to endurance abilities. Please call Heather Whitty at 281.996.3276 for exceptions.
Swimmers should be proficient in all strokes; freestyle, backstroke, elementary backstroke, breastroke, and butterfly. This level will focus on endurance, stroke perfection, flip turns, and race dives.
The Junior Lifeguard program is designed to prepare potential lifeguards for the skills and tasks they would need to perform when they become eligible to be hired (16 years and older). Participants will get hands-on experience and see first hand what lifeguards do on a day-to-day basis. The junior lifeguards will also learn the basics of CPR and first aid, swim lessons, and teaching water safety skills. Each junior lifeguard will participate in the lifeguarding staff weekly training on Mondays from 12:00 - 4:00pm. In addition, each junior lifeguard will be required to submit a "schedule request" at least one week prior to the first day so individual schedules can be built to meet the participant's availability.
Junior lifeguards will not be scheduled for more than 16 hours per week.
Potential hours are Monday - Friday between 9:00am and 9:30pm and Saturday and Sunday between 1:00pm and 7:00pm.
Session 1: June 10 - June 28
