Using the latest analysis of FBI data, Friendswood has ranked high on two new “safest” lists.
The website “NeighborhoodScout.com” has named Friendswood as the safest City in the Houston area (the same as 2017), the third Safest City in Texas (up from sixth in 2017), and the 43rd Safest City in America (up from 60th in 2017).
Neighborhood Scout’s ranking is based on cities with 25,000 or more people, based on the total number of property and violent crimes per 1,000 residents. Neighborhood Scout’s report uses the most recent data the FBI classifies as “Final, non-preliminary.”
Niche.com uses a slightly different criteria when ranking “Safest Suburbs.” They have recently announced Friendswood as the 7th Safest Suburb in the Houston area.
“Every time we learn of one of these high rankings in the safest city or suburb list, we credit the members of the Friendswood Police Department and the vigilant residents. When they see something, they say something. This time is no different,” said Friendswood Police Chief Robert Wieners. “It indicates that what is being done is working. I’m glad we have again received recognition for that fact.”
In addition, last year Niche ranked Friendswood as the 25th Best Suburb in the Houston area. This year, Friendswood has jumped up to 11th Best Suburb in the Houston area.
“These rankings, and the positive growth they show year after year, are gratifying to me. The results of these objective reports confirm that the hard work of the residents, volunteers, and City staff, especially those whose primary daily responsibility is our safety, are making a quantifiable difference, said Friendswood Mayor Kevin Holland. “Quality of life and a feeling of safety and security are some of the reasons why people love living in Friendswood. This confirms the thought that we are moving in the right direction.”More: Home Space News
