For the fifth consecutive year, the Friendswood Library has been honored with the Achievement of Library Excellence Award from the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association. The award recognizes library staff for their commitment to service and educational programming in the community.
Only 51 libraries of the more than 540 public libraries in Texas received this honor in 2018. The award is given annually to libraries that demonstrate service excellence in ten areas: Summer Reading Program, Underserved Populations, Enhanced Service, Marketing and Publicity, Digital Inclusion, Cultural and Educational Programming for Adults, Literacy Support, Collaboration, Training, and Workforce Development.
In the latest year for which statistics are available, the Friendswood Library assisted 186,169 customers, circulated 348,554 books, magazines, audiobooks, DVDs, CDs, and more. Hundreds of events and programs focused on literacy, computer skills, arts and crafts, and storytelling were provided to 33,806 residents and attendees.More: Home Space News
