The City of Friendswood has been awarded the Government Finance Officers Association’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the sixteenth consecutive year.
Roger Roecker, former City Manager of the City of Friendswood, Past President of the Government Finance Officers Association of Texas (GFOAT), and GFOAT Representative to the Government Finance Officers Association, presented the award to Katina Hampton, Director of Administrative Services, at the September Friendswood City Council meeting. “They have met nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation,” Roecker said. “There are only approximately 1,600 entities that have received this award this year out of about 90 thousand governmental entities in North America.”
In order to receive the budget award, the City had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. Budget documents must be rated “proficient” by serving as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and a communications device.
“I’m proud of our team here at the City of Friendswood. It is comprised of not only those who work on the budget, but also the Accounting Staff, the entire Administrative Services Department and many representatives from all other departments in the City,” said Hampton. “We appreciate the recognition of everyone’s hard work and cooperation.”
“Few organizations have a track record as prestigious and as lengthy as the City of Friendswood Administrative Services team. The fact that an outside organization has evaluated the budget presentation and repeatedly given it high honors is especially gratifying as we continue to make transparency one of our key goals,” said Friendswood Mayor Mike Foreman.More: Home Space News
