Friendswood is a Sun Safe City

Join Mayor Mike Foreman, Camilla Zuckero, Castle Biosciences’ Vice President of Corporate Affairs, and melanoma survivor Anne Ramsey on Friday, May 3, at 10 am in Stevenson Park for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate Friendswood being recognized as a Sun Safe Leadership Model City by IMPACT Melanoma.

Friendswood’s own Castle Biosciences, a leading molecular diagnostics company committed to improving health through innovative tests that help guide treatment decisions for patients with skin cancers, is bringing sun safety to the city through its ongoing partnership with IMPACT Melanoma. As a Partner in Prevention with IMPACT Melanoma, Castle Biosciences is increasing awareness and education around the importance of skin cancer prevention and protecting one’s skin from harmful UV rays. The Friendswood initiative encompasses multiple IMPACT programs being implemented throughout the community, including the installation of sunscreen dispensers for access to free sunscreen and portable shade tents in your favorite city parks, prevention education for families, and UPF protective clothing for outdoor workers, including Parks & Recreation and city employees. Learn more here.

Refreshments, sunscreen and shade will be provided. We hope to see you there!
