Two Catalytic Converter Suspects in Custody After Short Foot Chase
There is a large police presence in the 100 block of S Friendswood Drive near Whataburger and New Hope Church. Friendswood Police were alerted to a vehicle possibly associated with a catalytic converter theft on November 18, 2022, at approximately 12:54 PM. The officers located the vehicle exiting the Annalea subdivision heading southbound down S. Friendswood Dr. When officer’s attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver pulled into the Whataburger parking lot on S. Friendswood Dr. and the occupants of the vehicle fled on foot westbound. The two occupants were apprehended after a short foot chase near New Hope Church and Friendswood United Methodist Church. Several catalytic converters, that were still warm to the touch, and a reciprocating saw were found in the backseat of the vehicle. A handgun was also found in the parking lot of New Hope Church and several shell casings were found inside the vehicle. Both suspects are in custody and there is no threat to the public or any students in nearby schools.
