Vidcode - Learn computer programming skills This is a free electronic resource you can access from home.
Through self-guided projects, you will write the code to create slideshows, memes, filters and more using Javascript programming language that you can share. During the creative process you learn the fundamentals of computer science and web programming using a drag and drop environment that quickly moves into text-based programming. As projects become more complex, the lessons cover complex object properties with user interactions, creating games and simulations. If serial killers, heists, criminal psychology, unsolved mysteries, and forensic pathology fascinate you, then join us via Zoom the last Tuesday of each month at 7pm. Monday, August 2 at 2pm - Computer Basics This class reviews how to use files and folders for storage, email, and sharing. Discuss several ways to copy and paste text into an email or document.
Monday, August 9 at 2pm - Google Docs This is a free software tool you can use to create business letters, resumes, and flyers. However, it does require that you have a Gmail account. This class explains how to access and use this tool.

Mobile WiFi Hotspots Available for CheckoutDo you have a laptop, tablet, or smartphone at home and are without Internet access? You can access the Internet using one of these devices. They are easy to use. The Friendswood Public Library offers a limited number of mobile WiFi hotspots for checkout. Wi-Fi Hotspots may be borrowed by Friendswood Public Library adult cardholders (18 years or older) with accounts in good standing. Checkout is limited to one kit per household at any given time. Home DeliveryAre you homebound due to age or a medical condition? Do you love to read but are no longer able to commute to the Library? Home delivery is a convenient service that supplies books, large print books, audiobooks, magazines, music, and movies to City of Friendswood residents who are unable to use the library due to temporary or long-term physical and medical disabilities. A Friendswood Public Library staff member will deliver library materials to your home and pick up the materials for return on scheduled days. Love The Library? Become a Friend of Friendswood Library for as little as a $10 annual membership. The Friends meet the first Tuesday of the month for an hour to discuss service initiatives, outreach, and fundraising activities. Meetings are optional but the Friends would love to hear from you. Become a Friend online through the Friendswood Library website or in person at the library’s circulation desk.
The Friends have helped the Friendswood Library obtain library equipment such as a portable document scanner, Oculus Rift Virtual Reality System, a display case, Wi-Fi Hot Spots, and prizes for Summer Reading. The Friends also sponsor many library programs and events throughout the year including ZakiCon, May the Fourth Be With You, the Ekphrastic Poetry Contest, music performances, and others.
