Storm-related Debris
All storm-related debris must be curbside by Monday morning (March 1). Only one pickup will be made. If you are waiting on an insurance adjuster before getting your debris to the curb, please seek funds from your insurance company to dispose of your debris. Debris generated from new construction and repair work is not eligible for pickup. Please see that your contractor disposes of these items.
Debris Guidelines
Debris must be brought to the right-of-way. Debris left on utility easements or behind residences will not be picked up. Ensure that roads are accessible by emergency vehicles, utility crews, and school busses. Do not pile debris on streets. When piling debris curbside, do not block or obscure fire hydrants, water meters, or traffic control signage.
Furniture brought to the curb will be removed. If you are waiting on insurance adjusters, keep items that are outside drying in the backyard.
Different types of debris go to different disposal sites and must be separated into segregated piles:
- Construction and demolition: consists of sheet rock, shingles, siding, carpet, furniture, and other items originating from homes.
- Electronic Waste: consists of televisions, computers, stereos, and other similar electronics.
- Household Garbage: regular household garbage should be continued to be bagged and put curbside for regular pickup. If you have spoiled food due to power outages, dispose of these items in your regular garbage.
Do not mix different types of debris. Mixed debris cannot be picked up.
The City will not be picking up household hazardous materials or large appliances
Household hazardous materials consists of household cleaners, motor fuels, paint, and other similar items. Large appliances include refrigerators, air conditioners, washers, dryers, and other similar items. Residents will be responsible for disposing of these items on their own.
Vegetative waste such as trees or shrubs will not be picked up as storm debris. Vegetation may be put out for heavy trash on regular pickup days.
Normal residential garbage collection for household trash has resumed. Keep bagged garbage separate from other storm-related debris.
