The National Weather Service says Delta is a Category 2 hurricane but is expected to re-strengthen within the Gulf of Mexico. Landfall is forecast for Louisiana but Texas remains within the error cone. The Friendswood area has an approximate 30 to 40 percent chance of receiving tropical storm force winds from Hurricane Delta. The most likely time of arrival for tropical storm force winds is late Thursday into Friday morning. Friendswood residents should closely watch weather forecasts and should take preparedness actions for possible impact of tropical storm force winds. Take the following action now:
Move backyard items, such as patio furniture, into your home or garage so that they do not become wind driven projectiles.
Secure any and all outdoor items than can become wind driven projectiles such as plants, toys, yard tools, building materials, trampolines, playground equipment, and other similar items.
Fill your vehicle’s gas tank
Review your family’s emergency plan and make updates as necessary.
Ensure your emergency preparedness kit is fully stocked and replace items as necessary.
