Katy Harris became the City’s Multimedia Communications Specialist in January 2020. Katy started with the City of Friendswood in 2009 as a Summer Camp Counselor with the Parks & Recreation Department. She then advanced to Summer Camp Director, before becoming a full time staff member in 2014 as a Recreation Aide, and later a Recreation Specialist. During her time in the Parks & Recreation Department, Katy was instrumental in building a brand for the Department with her award-winning publications, graphics, and creative marketing strategies. Katy enjoyed her time in Parks & Recreation but her focus was always marketing and design.
As the Multimedia Communications Specialist , Katy oversees digital marketing platforms, the City website, and publication designs to name a few. She recently re-designed the City logo for 2020 to reflect the 125th anniversary of Friendswood. Katy has since revamped all social media accounts and digital publications.
During her time at the City of Friendswood, Katy has earned recognition both from within and outside of the organization. She was awarded the Five Star Spirit Award in 2018 for her willingness to help and go above and beyond her assigned responsibilities. Katy became a member of the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TAMIO) in 2017. Every year since, Katy has submitted her publications, designs, and other materials to TAMIO for award consideration and has succeeded in many categories.
Katy loves working for the City that she grew up in and strives to produce quality work for the Residents of Friendswood. In her time off, she enjoys doings crafts, traveling, and spending time with her family.
