The State of Texas-Federal Disaster Recovery Center located at 209 S. Friendswood Drive will close permanently on Friday, March 9 at 6 p.m. The Center has been in operation since September 29.

“Having a FEMA Disaster Recovery Center in Friendswood has been a great help to residents of Friendswood and nearby cities,” said Friendswood Mayor Kevin Holland. “It has allowed residents affected by Hurricane Harvey to get face-to-face information from a wide range of Federal and State agencies, all under one roof.”

The Center provided initial information and registration for benefits to storm victims, and also served as a location to receive ongoing assistance. “Having the Center in Friendswood has been a benefit to the storm-affected Friendswood residents because it reduced travel time while going through the lengthy assistance process, which for some individuals, required repeat visits,” said Holland.

After Friday, FEMA said the nearest open Disaster Relief Center is located at the School District Building-Pearland Historical Society, 2341 N. Galveston Ave., in Pearland.

Individuals and businesses in counties included in the Texas federal disaster declaration for Hurricane Harvey and the subsequent floods can still get help by logging into their account at or by calling the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362.
