City receives two budget awards

The City of Friendswood has been awarded the Government Finance Officers Association’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the thirteenth consecutive year. The Association honored the City after evaluating the Fiscal Year 2015-16 budget.
Mike Rodgers, Finance Director for the City of Webster and Immediate Past President of the Government Finance Officers Association of Texas presented the award to Cindy Edge-Director of Administrative Services, Katina Hampton-Deputy Director of Administrative Services (Finance), and Jennifer Walker-Budget Manager, at the August Friendswood City Council meeting.
“We have a great team at the City of Friendswood; not only those who work on the budget, but also the Accounting Staff, the entire Administrative Services Department and many representatives from all other departments in the City,” said Edge. “If it were not for everyone’s hard work and cooperation, the budget would not come together was well as it does.”
In order to receive the budget award, the City had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. Budget documents must be rated “proficient” by serving as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and a communications device.
For the first time, Friendswood’s budget document also earned the Operations Guide Special Performance Measures Recognition for its detail of the City departments’ performance measures of progress for accomplishing the City’s overall mission and goals.
