CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD GOES ALL ELECTRONIC FOR THE UPCOMING GENERAL ELECTION
Friendswood, TX – February 16, 2010 – Retiring City Secretary Deloris McKenzie announced that the City of Friendswood will be all electronic for the upcoming General Election which will be held on May 08, 2010. Since the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) was enacted in 2002 to improve and create election administration standards and replace outdated voting systems, the City of Friendswood purchased a hybrid system of electronic voting in 2006. At the upcoming May 2010 election the City will no longer have the hybrid system it had been using but will utilize an all electronic voting system. The only paper ballots that will be used will be for Mail Ballots. Retiring City Secretary Deloris McKenzie stated, “Going all electronic voting has been a goal for this City which is consistent with both Harris and Galveston Counties Voting Systems”.
