Climate


Subtropical Climate

In the heart of the sunbelt, Friendswood enjoys a subtropical climate where outdoor sports are practiced year round and the growing season extends well into November.

Winter days are mild with a few temperature dips below the freezing mark. After one of the infrequent frosts, it is not uncommon for the temperature to rise to a balmy 60 or 70 degrees during the day.

Spring and fall are the most pleasant times with warm days and cool nights. Summers are hot and perfect for those who enjoy the Gulf.

The area is blessed with abundant rainfall which, combined with the favorable temperatures, produces a growing season of more than 290 days. With an average monthly temperature in January of 43 to 62 F and in June 73 - 89 F, average yearly rainfall is 51 inches. Prevailing winds are from the southeast.
