Roger Roecker has more than 39 years of finance and management experience in a variety of industries, including 30 years in the public sector.
He began his local government career as the Director of Finance for the City of Friendswood in 1989. In 1992 he assumed additional responsibilities and was named the Director of Administrative Services. He served as Interim City Manager in 2006 and again in 2008. After serving in that role for more than a year, he became Friendswood’s City Manager in August of 2009.
Roger earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Howard Payne University and a Masters degree in Public Administration from the University of Houston – Clear Lake.
He has been a member of the Government Finance Officers Association of Texas (GFOAT) since 1989 and served in various capacities: Director of Region 14; At-Large Representative to the Executive Board; as President; and as the State Representative to the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. He received the designation of Certified Governmental Finance Officer in 1999 and has been a member of the Texas City Managers Association since March 2009.
Roger is married to Lesa, an educator in Pearland ISD. They have been blessed with three great children, Ryan, a teacher and coach at Anahuac High School, who is married to Nikki; Ashley, who works in interior design and is married to Brad Bettcher; and Kimberly, an RN working at Texas Children’s Hospital, who is married to Ryan Almon. Roger and Lesa are also enjoying their three grandchildren, Rylea, Major and Jett. They attend First Baptist Church in Pearland where Roger also serves as a deacon.
